Write about your dream home.

I am quite sure that you won’t be surprised if I include the word ”greek” in my answer further below! If you have been around here for a while, reading what i share, you probably know that I am Greek. If you are new, then… welcome! And hi! My name is Maria and I am Greek 🇬🇷. So yes, my dream home is related to the country I am from but it is definitely not one you will find in the mainland, close to the mountains…

Now, don’t get me wrong, the mountains of Greece are beautiful and over the years, I have visited a lot of stunning towns and villages. Fyi, Ioannina in Epirus is one of the top favourites and the villages extending up on the mountain known as Zagorochoria are simply gorgeous. I would say that autumn and winter are the most beautiful ones. But the warmest months are also good. It’s a matter of taste! Anyway, let’s get back to it.

I was born in Pireaus, the port of Athens and therefore, I spent a lot of time by the sea as a child. Even now, when I fly down to Greece, I find my way there either on an island or even while in the mainland. The sea has always been one of my big loves and that’s where I go to calm down, let go of my problems and feel at home. So, my dream home is, of course, by the sea!

When I think about it, when I imagine it, I picture this beautiful little stone villa with blue window blinds, up on a hill, not too far from the sea. The rooms of it are spacious and cozy, welcoming like Greeks tend to be, with windows overlooking the garden or towards the ocean. The garden definitely has a lot of olive trees as they are my most favorites, lanterns hanging from them or planted along the low bushes of herbs and somewhere between them, there is a table with many chairs for people to sit along and enjoy a hearty meal under the warm sun of summer. There is, of course, a must when it comes to the interior of the house! I’ve always liked fireplaces and that’s why such a home should have one or two for use. In the cozy rooms which are full of books and reading corners. That is where I would love to be in now with my loved ones… Maybe one day!

What about you? What is your dream home like?
