Let’s talk about physical exercise.

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite form of physical exercise?

You know it! The picture answers this daily prompt and you can probably guess why.

My most favorite form of physical exercise, for when I do it (which admittedly is not that often nowadays) is swimming. I absolutely love being in the water, under the surface, floating on the surface and it does not matter if it’s a pool or the sea (duh, i prefer the sea the most!). Swimming is an excellent way to work your entire body and the cardiovascular system. There are a plethora of benefits you gain from swimming laps. Let’s talk about them!

  1. Works your body. Your whole body. To begin with, by swimming you do not stress your body but, at the same time, you can increase your heart rate. You can tone muscles, build endurance, etc. Even different type of stroke (breaststroke, backstroke, etc) focuses on different muscles.
  2. Swimming also works everything inside your body in a more gentle way, yet effective. Your lungs become stronger, for example.
  3. Swimming was one of the exercises my doctor recommended when I broke my ankle (eeeek, it’s been a year and some months now since then!). It reduces pain and improves the recovery from an injury.
  4. Improves your sleep. According to scientists, adults with insomnia reported a boost in quality of life and sleep after engaging in aerobic exercise.
  5. Boosts the mood! You have no idea how many times I have caught myself being in a much better mood after being in the water! Just try it!
  6. Lastly, I believe you can agree that swimming is quite afforable. Visiting a pool for some laps is not as expensive and the beach is free!

What’s your favorite physical exercise and why? Let me know!
