The first books of 2024.

Bloganuary writing prompt
What books do you want to read?

2024 has just began some weeks ago and I am already planning my reading list for this year… Just like many people, I challenge myself by having a certain number of books I wish to read in general during the year.. Sometimes, it works!

However, this year, things are a bit different. Sure, I will always try to find the time to read something I want, that book that catches my eye in the bookstore or the title I have heard so much about… But, I am also planning on having a specific list of books as I am now involved with a proper Book Club as a host for such an event in the city.

For this writing prompt of Bloganuary, I decided to mention the books I want to read for the Book Club, instead of going through a huge list of books I keep in mind. It’s a list that comes along with a purpose and a short one as well. At least for now. So here we go!

I will cheat a little bit by mentioning the books I am CURRENTLY reading. I am not even halfway through though and, to be honest, I need to pick the pace up as the first meeting of our Book Club is coming up in some days!

I was introduced to this book by an acquaintance and immediately, I thought it was a great one to go with. So far, I have not been disappointed. Being someone to values friendship and someone who loves having friends around, Friendaholic by Day is one of the most interesting reads for the last few months, if not the last year!

I know that Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Zevin is about the relationship of two people that met through the gaming world. Correct?

Well, have you even been in the same position of falling in love with someone you met online? Because I have. And it did work for a while (6 years to be exact). This is why this book is in my list. I have not checked any of the reviews for it, not yet, and maybe I won’t even check. That’s the thing for me, I like reading something and deciding if it’s a good one or not myself!

The last book I am interested in is the Treasurey of Irish Fairy and Folk Tales. As a matter of fact, this was a gift to my fiancee and so far, he has not touched it (he’s not big in reading :P).

I have always loved mythology and folklore. Coming from a country with a lot of Mythology from the ancient times, I find it fascinating. Plus, the stories are great and full of heroes and damsels in distress. Greek mythology is good. But I know it. I’ve read it. I’ve been taught Mythology in school during our History lessons. Folklore from other countries is new. So… let’s do this!

What books do you want to read soon? Or this year in generally?
