Sharing Thoughts

What 2020 has taught me… And maybe you.

2020 has been a tough year. There was – still is – a pandemic. Restrictions of all kinds followed and lockdowns too. To put it simply, 2020 might have brought the worst in many. Let’s admit it, we were and are scared, uncomfortable, lonely, confused, sad, bored and anxious on getting back in our old lives. Some are all those things a bit more than others!

But 2020 taught me who to love. And how ready I am to go far for certain people. It taught me that I can’t live my life in fear of being clingy or too emotional or too sensible. This year taught me that I deserve love in the way I want it to be.

This year taught me who NOT to love. I began, some time ago, to learn that an almost love is a heart breaking thing. This almost happiness won’t keep anyone’s heart safe. Or their mind. You can only give that much.

2020 taught me how important hugs are! And to what extent or how patient you can be until you feel the arms of someone important around you. Even if it’s just once and for seconds only.

Home comes next. This year taught me that I must stay in places that feel like home. And be with people who feel like home. It also taught me that my thoughts, my feelings and everything I share are important only to me and a few selected others. In the end of the day, I am still in control of who I share them with.

Finally, 2020 taught me that moments are important. Any moment is. A look, a smile, a note, the tears, the kiss… Even that joke you heard. All memories are important.

No matter what 2020 has taught you, you should know that others are proud of you for making it this far and through this difficult year. And you should be proud of yourself too! You have survived and your character was developed a bit more. Unfortunately, things won’t imrpove quickly. The clocks will strike midnight and the year will change. We will begin using a slightly different number in papers and calendars. But nothing will change as quickly and magically. No matter what, I hope you find the strength and the patience to fight for a better tomorrow.

A reminder: Check up on people in a few days. Wish a Happy New Year to your loved ones and make sure to have lots of fun!!
